Crony Venezuela: Chavez amassed a fortune of $2 billion?

chaves-cc

It’s good to be dictator (I guess, so long as one is alive). Since 1999 when Chavez took power he has taken a big pile of money for himself too.

But as they say, you can’t take it with you, and the “Bolivarian” revolutionary in Venezuela is leaving behind quite a lot. Can billionaires really be part of the “vanguard of the proletariat?”

(From News From Venezuela)

According to Jerry Brewer, president of CJIA, “the personal fortune of the Castro brothers has been estimated at a combined value of around $2 billion.”

“The Chávez Frías family in Venezuela has amassed a fortune of a similar scale since the arrival of Chávez to the presidency in 1999,”

As for the unsubstantiate accusations about Chavez accumulation of a fortune of $1 billion, this "information", increasingly repeated across the internet, comes from a Jerry Brewer who self-describes himself on a sub-page of his CJIA website as (quote) Mr. Brewer is a U.S. Government-trained counterterrorism specialist and senior trainer, with extensive operational activity in Latin America and the Middle East as an intelligence community operative. (end quote)http://www.lunchinars.ca/author/jerry-brewer/ A credible source indeed.

Humanity is better now that he's gone. Now, America should wake up and realizing what's happening right in front of our face. Free healthcare, food, etc to the poor...sounds very similar to someone currently in office. Just sayin'.....

...and by the way, that's not even getting into the droves of political demigods in our country. We in the U.S. are not immune to lies and corruption either. Just for balance. We here are always criticizing other countries as if we are so much better. Don't kid yourself.

Thanks for reminding folks that contrary to admirers' one-sided opinions, Chavez was a ruthless self-promoter, convincing the easily swayed poor in his country to idolize him, when in truth he was just another wanna-be political god who robbed the people blind. Did he do "good" things. Yeah, but how many rotten things to each good one? As always, truth will be known eventually by even his supporters, and his memory will be left blowing in the wind with the dust of endless other despots throughout time.

all these communists are the same, claim to be looking out for the poor and common man, while they steal from the poor to enrich themselves.

Please, let's use the same measure against our own government that we use against the rest of the world.

What democracy? Under the current "leadership" America is more marxist every day. Look at how much money the POTUS has and is squandering ours every day.

Yep. He understood the problems of the poor. That's why he didn't want to be one of them. Or even come close.

$100B out of about $1T...that's only about 10% right? If the U.S. government owned its own oil, the percentage it robbed from its citizens would probably be far more...
