So is this the “Kentucky compromise”? Perhaps the Kentucky Kickback?  These folks will never stop. They seriously cannot help themselves. At least the GOP has stopped calling itself “the party of small government.”

proposal to end the government shutdown and avoid default orchestrated by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Leader Harry Reid includes a nearly $3 billion earmark for a Kentucky project.

Language in a draft of the McConnell-Reid deal (see page 13, section 123) provided to WFPL News shows a provision that increases funding for the massive Olmsted Dam Lock in Paducah, Ky., from $775 million to nearly $2.9 billion.

I am no fan of McConnell but here are just two of the so called pork they added to this bill: money to help people in Colorado due to floods, money for the Veterans Administration to clear up the back log of Veterans requests. Why did they add this stuff, because they could not get the House to agree on any funding through the normal way things were done...Remember the Republicans held up funding for Super Storm Sandy.

Well, say this about that slice of pork, at least we are getting a dam out of the deal, unlike the nearly One Trillion "stimulus" where we got municipal workers continued on bloated contract for another measly year, roundabouts and signs warning us that signs were coming up.

You congressional dirtbags! Every one of you deserves to be fired, tarred and feathered, then put into the stocks while the people you are screwing over get to beat you mercilessly. *This* is a perfect example of crony capitalism and a huge reason America is in the position it is.

Time to send a message to Congress. It may be a small simply act, but they will get the tone. If you are a registered Dem or Rep, change it to Independent or another third party. It doesn't mean you can't vote for your candidate in the primaries, as you can change again when you need to.

Thanks for looking up the code Nick. I saw that piece of bacon and was wondering who was the beneficiary. It stood out because it specifically nailed the dollar figure. Figures that it was old Mumblemouth McConnell.
