The last margarita I had was actually in Auburn, Alabama. With dollar tacos. I didn’t order a pitcher though.
As a fan of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and Sturgill Simpson few things please me more than seeing the show “Nashville” fail. As an enemy of crony capitalism I hate to see that the residents of the Volunteer State will still be paying for this “artistic” mistake.
The crony vestiges of the temperance movement (which was hijacked) still linger in The Old Dominion.
I am a proud Virginian. I live in Thomas Jefferson’s home town, Charlottesville. And on this day, TJ’s birthday, the birthday of a man who loved both spirits and liberty, we submit this video your review.
I think Mr. Ziegler is too kind here. He gives ‘liberals’ kind of a pass on defending Stephanopoulos, saying essentially that though it’s not OK that they (I am writing in the broadest sense here) don’t see that giving money to the Clinton Foundation by a news anchor is wrong, it is ever-the-less to be expected.
Perhaps. But it should’t be expected.
For too long the crony media have been tolerated simply because the people who understand that the old media (the crony media) is biased toward collectivism and is chock full of bovine dung just accepted this fact.
Even many of my liberal friends now acknowledge a strong statist bias in the #oldmedia. It’s not just how stories are reported but perhaps more importantly WHAT STORIES are reported.
They do because they are.
Still a common scene in much of the Appalachians.
In some places one cannot sell liquor on Sundays. The “Baptists” love this law as they hate booze. But the bootleggers like the law too, as without the law they’d be out of business. One could even throw in the alcohol cops (we still have them in Virginia) which also like the law, who don’t care about “demon rum,” or the artificial market which provides an opportunity to sell to thirsty customers on Sunday,
We give the Dems a hard time here, and we give the GOP a hard time too. Both parties engage in crony capitalism all the time, but in slightly different ways. The #oldmedia however have been and will likely to continue to be in the bag for the Democrats. I think this is a fair thing to say.
Again, this is in my adopted hometown. Ann Downey, student at UVA, was accosted by 6 plain clothes ABC agents (the bureau which controls alcohol sales in the Commonwealth of Virginia) in a parking lot near the University of Virginia. They thought that she had purchased beer illegally. What she actually bought was a case of water.
Here is the audio from her 911 call to the police after the plain clothes agents rushed her car. Reportedly one agent drew his weapon.
