Amash is one of the “good guys” (a small club) on The Hill.
The Saudis aren’t good guys and they’ve cozied up to Trump.
From a strategic perspective one can’t blame them. Iran looms across the Persian Gulf and Shiite Muslims (The Saudis are Sunni.) are on the rise across the region from Lebanon, through what is left of Syria, and into Iraq. To the south there is also Shiite (partly) Yemen where Saudi Arabia is waging a war. The Saudi royal family is feeling some heat.
Of course the Saudi royal family should feel some heat.
Amash is a principled conservatarian. One of the “good guys.”
Justin Amash is really doing great things on Capitol Hill.
That’s right Representative Justin Amash, a Congressman, is doing great things on Capitol Hill. In fact he’s been doing great things on Capitol Hill for a while now.
Rep. Amash, the Republican from Michigan had a response to Senator Manchin’s really abhorrent statement.
Somehow, for many people, the TEA Party has become some sort of social conservative thing. This is the dominant narrative repeated in much of the press and indeed some social conservatives have tried to run with this recharacterization.
But the TEA Party wasn’t and isn’t about social issues. It is about reducing the size of government. It is about bringing the political class in line. It is about We the People saying ENOUGH! And most importantly it is about being TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY.
Kudos to Phillip Bump at the Washington Post for this one.
We at ACC often talk about the fracturing going on within the 2 main parties. The Tea Party for instance is a de facto party within the GOP which the author takes into account. He also identifies an increasingly active fault line within the Democratic Party. (We think he’s wrong on who falls on which side of this line to some degree however.)
A thought experiment to be sure,
