It seems like all the sane (relatively speaking) politicos are in the Rocky Mountain states these days.
The people who want to control the great unwashed always have a reason and usually it’s not as altruistic (is it ever?) as they want you to believe.
The fact that Obama’s home town of Chicago, which has very restrictive gun laws, is a virtual war zone might give the soon to be former president a clue as to why Americans are/were not keen to part with their guns. In fact if Obama is “frustrated” that he couldn’t get gun control, how does he feel about the fact that his presidency was the biggest boon to gun manufacturers ever? Many more Americans are armed now than before his presidency.
Every sit-in should have a catered lunch.
The crony system of government has a tiered system of justice. There are the connected and/or rich who have one set of rules. Then there is another set of rules and assumptions for those who fall outside of the blessings of the inner court.
Hypocrisy is rife in the crony class. Such hypocrisy is in fact one of the defining characteristics of a crony system. Those who call for “justice” are the ones who seek to impose unjust laws.
These people care nothing for liberty or freedom or you. Live free. Be free. Be a citizen. You are worthy of dignity.
Not smiling as much these days.
This is from February, but given recent events the story couldn’t be more relevant.
A key part of the crony system is the idea that there are the managers and the managed. That there are those who are wise and benevolent enough to rule and then there is the great unwashed rabble which at best should be tolerated and farmed for tax revenue. The unwashed rabble need to be told what to do.
There are people who just do not get guns. They fear them. They didn’t grow up with them. They fear that people who don’t agree with their worldview do own them. They see the Second Amendment, right after speech, as some kind of mistake. And at least some 2nd Amendment opponents, Constitutional opponents let’s be straight here, honestly think that the gun industry, a perfectly legal industry “makes terrorists.”
This woman was unfortunately the victim of a horrible crime.
Soros is a slick one. He is a big fan of the “say one thing do another” school of investing and public life. He preaches the green sermon all the time but has held (or still holds) large positions in coal and oil companies. Petrobras is one, it has recently been embroiled in a massive corruption scandal.
He is also big fan of restricting gun use in the United States. Yet as it turns out he is hedging his advocacy by investing in the firearms industry.
I don’t see it. I know he thinks he can bump chests with Trump and maybe win, and he sees weakness on the Left with Hillary and company but a real Bloomberg run would be pretty tough even with his ocean of money.
These orders would have happened whether the “smartgun” companies had given him money or not. However the structure of the orders may have been different without the pile of cash.
One of the common themes of a crony political system is that the executive always seeks to expand its authority. A republic is such a messy and difficult way to get things done. What we need is someone who will “do something” even if that “something” is something that may or may not be in violation of the Constitution.
The assault on the 2nd Amendment continues. Frankly there are many people who think the 2nd Amendment is not valid. Even though it is the law, they don’t like it and they are doing everything they can to limit this expressed right. According to Inhofe the DHS is doing this via the massive purchasing power of the federal government—a government which is funded by you.
This bears close attention. Gun nut or not.
Mr. Biden I wish I could trust you, but I just don’t. That you would call on the help of the “legitimate” media—read, #oldmedia—explicitly, to push your agenda just stinks. It’s not like you have to ask anyway. But given that the White House appears to be losing the debate fairly solidly, I suppose it’s time to boost the troops.
Pretty much every president has grasped for more and more power. But this one seems particularly enamored with it.
