This whole Russia thing has been truly bizarre. I’ve been following it tick by tick since the beginning and I’ve yet to see what Russia actually did. (Not that we think it’s beyond Putin to do something.) And now this silliness from CNN and Buzzfeed? This is ridiculous. Sorry Mr. Podesta, but somebody on your side probably spilled the beans. (Not that we know anything special.) Deal. You lost. At this point your crew is just hurting the country.
Seems like it’s very possible.
It’s not the THE CIA is officially stating something here. There has been a leak from within the CIA. Some (how many really?) apparently within the CIA have signed onto the idea that Russia was trying to sway things for Trump. (And even if this was the case this is probably not something new. Teddy Kennedy even allegedly asked the Soviet Union to intervene in the 1984 election of behalf of the Democrats.
“Can you look into that camera and say for a fact that you know that the government of Vladimir Putin was behind the hack of John Podesta’s emails?…You can’t. And you know you can’t.”
An interesting statement.
The name Podesta is synonymous with influence pedaling in Washington DC. John Podesta, his brother, and his brother’s ex wife are lobbyists extraordinaire. John Podesta came to Obama’s White House to right the ship a couple of years ago. Now he heads Hillary Clinton’s White House effort.
Mr. Podesta has been one of the lead voices spinning the idea that the Russians had something to do with the DNC leaks which illustrated how the Democratic Party gamed the primaries for Hillary Clinton.
The Podestas revel in their insider super lobbyist image. They are the quintessential connected Washington big shots. That the Podesta group would lobby for Vladimir Putin’s favorite bank, which is partially owned by the central bank of Russia (it is the largest shareholder), and which operates as a de facto spy agency (according to the article) is a little bizarre.
It must be made clear that neither John Podesta, nor his brother Anthony Podesta have been accused of any wrongdoing.
This is pretty par for the course. The idea with these folks is that they are “doing well while they are doing ‘good.’”
This is how much crony capitalism is justified in Washington DC.
At this point the only way these guys can get into any trouble with this stuff is if an interest directly hands a wad of hundred dollar bills to a politician while a reporter records the transaction. And even then.
One doesn’t have to be above the law if one can simply write the law to one’s (low) level.
Meet Hansjorg Wyss, Swiss citizen, medical device mogul, “person number 7” in a recent federal lawsuit, friend to John Podesta and the Center for American Progress, and big time political whale. He’s also the 112th richest man in the world.
We have reported on the cozy relationship the website Think Progress has with this White House in the past. I think that it can be fairly said that TP is pretty much a propaganda vehicle. Basically an outlet of gussied up talking points for the #oldmedia to regurgitate. It certainly is not a legitimate news source. (As the below report from The Daily Caller illustrates.)
Podesta, Bill Clinton’s right hand man at one point was brought in by Obama to save his floundering administration. Podesta’s a clean up guy, a head knocker. He is as partisan as they come, having recently headed the extremely statist organization, The Center for American Progress, which is funded to a large extent by by everyone’s favorite billionaire, George Soros.
One might assume that the “progressive” think tank The Center for American Progress is funded solely by George Soros (The organization was founded by Soros and he does fund part of CAP) and companies like Ben and Jerry’s and Patagonia, but one would be wrong. Turns out this bastion of statist thinking is funded by a who’s who of big time corporate America.
With an administration reeling from its failed Obamacare launch, the president has brought in outside insider help. John Podesta, former Clinton Chief of Staff and lobbyist for BP and Walmart, will focus on how to use executive orders to legislate from the executive branch. (This is of course in violation of the separation of powers in the Constitution and a clear threat to America but Politico makes no mention of this.)
