They have a point. Many of these media outlets (which are mostly small in relative terms) will be inclined to like Trump. But Media Matters needs to take a chill pill. Every major old media outlet with the exception of FOX and The Wall Street Journal have long been propaganda outfits for the corporatist Left (There is a non-corporatist Left media, in our opinion a more honest Left, Democracy Now! would be an example.) and for Obama specifically.
This is nice to see. Soros licking his wounds. Looking for a reason for the disintegration of the world he so sought to see. A world in which the EU countered the evil United States. A world in which the bureaucrats and financiers ruled over the rest of society forever marginalizing the “deplorables” whether in Texas, the South of France, or The MIdlands. A world of “Davos Man.” Of “enlightened” philosopher kings. A world where the serfs knew their place and the “smart”
As this data appears to show, much of the #oldmedia operates within an echo chamber. This of course is probably not news for most ACC readers. For many of us the echo chamber effect in the #oldmedia seems patently obvious. There have been dozens of stories we’ve touched on here over the years, of significant consequence, which were/are largely ignored by the #oldmedia. These stories are typically ones that are critical of the establishment, of which the #oldmedia, the #cronymedia are a part.
In the emails the Soros organization outlines how it uses international organizations to influence (and we assume overwhelm) national policy and sovereignty on immigration issues.
We at ACC are for immigration. But we are also for US sovereignty. There are many people in the world who would like to take the United States down a few pegs (as they see it) and integrate it into a more “international” legal regime. George Soros is one of these people.
Given the hits we have taken to the rule of law in this country in recent years a more “international”
Brexit has hit the crony class hard.
The cronies, on Wall Street, the City of London, Washington, London, Brussels, and pretty much everywhere are not used to getting punched square in the jaw. They like their fights rigged (for them). However the connected cronyweights got absolutely clocked on Thursday.
A knockout punch? No, but a deep, jarring, resonating blow to be sure. Call it a pounding.
Now the real fight begins.
If you leave you are a’gonna pay. You Brits aren’t going going to rain on our pan-European parade. Err…I mean…We’re just looking out for your best interests.
And he worked for George Soros and Goldman Sachs too, so that’s good. Guess we just moved into the “reality stage” of this race. Things are going to be ugly and in new ways.
Both the current president Rousseff Dilma and the former president Lula da Silva, both of the socialist Worker Party, have been caught (it appears according to a publicly released wire tap) colluding to avoid justice. People spilled into the streets last night, again, to demand Dilma’s and now Lula’s head.
Just a few years ago both leaders were darlings of the Chavista (and socialist) inspired “Pink Tide” in South America. That tide has clearly turned. But it has not taken Dilma out to sea –
He is “alarmed” at the rise of Republican candidates who do not jibe with his worldview. He also likes to have someone he can call on in the White House.
Mr. Soros makes another appearance. He’s got money and he’s happy to spend it. If anything, the man does know how to invest in the crony capitalist economy.
Soros is a slick one. He is a big fan of the “say one thing do another” school of investing and public life. He preaches the green sermon all the time but has held (or still holds) large positions in coal and oil companies. Petrobras is one, it has recently been embroiled in a massive corruption scandal.
He is also big fan of restricting gun use in the United States. Yet as it turns out he is hedging his advocacy by investing in the firearms industry.
As we have said before here, we do not particularly like Mr. Soros but he is someone who is worth listening to.
Word is that many people at Davos (the superconvention of financiers, economists, world leaders, and celebrities going on right now in Switzerland) have been trying to convince themselves that China is still going to be OK, that a “soft landing” can in fact be engineered in the Ultimate Crony Capitalist State. But there is a growing list of pretty smart people who think that a Chinese “soft landing”
